I recently read an article that said 58% of all women have a side hustle. Which means in addition to giving your all to your nine to five you’re moonlighting as an entrepreneur. I’m pretty sure we could all use a little self-care. If this is the case, then I’m pretty sure we could all use a little self-care. So, I made an appointment, and took a trip to SIA Spa in Cincinnati for some good ole self-care time for myself. At some point, you have to stop putting the need for relaxation on the back burner and lean into some small indulgences before you snap.
My Self Care Weapon of Choice
Massage is my chosen weapon and let me tell you the Aroma Touch Massage slew the mighty stress dragon. I have actually never had a massage in a full-service spa before and I am so glad that my first experience was at SIA Spa. My masseuse, Kaitlyn explained that the aroma touch massage is a Swedish massage that uses 8 different essential oils and is very different from a deep tissue massage because of the long soothing strokes. Initially, I was a little worried if I picked the right massage to relieve my stress tension, but after all the essential oils filled the air I didn’t have a worry in the world.
SIA is a full-service spa and salon. Their skin care service pricing ranges from mid-range to high-end facials. As an African American woman, I am often apprehensive of some skin care treatments because not all treatments work well with the melanin in our skin which are mainly treatments focused on removing hyperpigmentation. I spoke with one of the estheticians at SIA and she was very knowledgeable and made great recommendations for skin care treatments for women of color.
