Leopard Print is the New Leopard Print

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

I was flipping through Harper’s Bazaar Magazine and it said that leopard print was going to big for fall. I laughed out loud. When is leopard print ever not in style? I guess we can all be excited that leopard print will be available in more varieties with an extended variety of color options. Seriously, who stopped wearing leopard print? It wasn’t me!

Speaking of extended color varieties, when I found this tomato red leopard print dress at SimplyBe I didn’t have high expectations. I did not have low ones either but whatever expectation I had was exceeded because this dress is BOMB. First of all, it has pockets!! The fabric is amazing and wrinkle resistant which was perfect since I wore this dress to a function where there would be a lot of sitting and then standing up to take pictures.

Here are few leopard print options that I love for fall!!

Pretty In Pink

Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite holidays. I am a facilitator of love and for the next few weeks, I will be the cupid of outfit inspiration. My first look is for the laid back ladies. I am all about the wardrobe uniform. A wardrobe uniform is all about embracing your personal style.  You know what works on your body, and now it’s all about tailoring your look to every occasion. If your signature look is jeans and a t-shirt, consider elevating the look with a great motto jacket in a fun color.

Consider a few things

  1. The traditional uniform would be a white tee, blue jeans, and a black leather jacket.  Three different colors and textures can break up your shape and make you look shorter. Consider pairing gray or black jeans with a matching top.  Monochromatic will make you look longer and tends to give a more dressed up look.
  2. Feeling bright? Wearing monochromatic underpinnings will make your jacket the focal point of your outfit.
  3. Want to look even taller?  Pair your look with a nude pump.
  4. Distressed jeans are just sexy.  It’s something about a small amount of exposed skin. Find a great pair of distressed denim and consider them evening wear. Just make sure you follow this rule while shopping for new jeans. BHT: Booty, Hip, Thigh. I don’t care if the jeans are on sale, if they don’t properly fit the BHT it’s not worth it.
  5. The goal is to keep the line of your body as long as possible. SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESJacket: Forever 21, Turtleneck: Old Navy (sold out, similar), Jeans: Old Navy, Necklace Charming Charlie (old)

Style Sunday | Black Does Not Make You Look Thinner

SAM_3953.JPG

I have nothing against a little black dress. I think black can be powerful and sexy. I also know women who wouldn’t dare wear another color because black is slimming. Can a darker color camouflage a problem area on your body? Yes, it can. Will wearing head to toe black make you look thinner? Nope! I don’t believe in hiding behind black for the sake of appearing thinner. I do believe in complimenting the shape of your body to highlight your best features and that can be done without wearing any black.

Skin Is In

Anyone can wear black but black is a harsh color and doesn’t work with every skin tone. Women with cool undertones look fantastic in navy blue and chocolate brown. Women with dark skin radiate in eggplant. Give your wardrobe some versatility with other dark staple colors and give head toe black a rest.

It Ain’t The Color, It’s The Fabric

Don’t limit yourself to dark colors for the sake of looking thin it’s a crutch. Let me just be honest because, well, it’s my blog. If a garment is made of thin unflattering fabric that sinks into every crevasse buying it in black won’t make it look better.Any body type can wear any color if the fabric is a heavy weight. The silhouette and the cut of an item will determine if the item makes you appear smaller.

What’s Black, White, and Red All Over? Print!!

I know some people shy away from prints because they fear the print will make them appear larger than they really are. I have even had friends tell me that they won’t wear floral prints because they will look like a garden. I remember thinking but aren’t gardens beautiful? The wrong print can do you an injustice and the wrong print isn’t a specific print it is the direction of which the print goes or the size of the print. I’ve worn stripes. polka dots, checks, and florals. You name it I’ve worn it, some prints are intentional and silhouette the body. New adventures and clothes have something in common you won’t know until you TRY!!
