April showers have finally brought May flowers, well at least in my closet. Dusty Rose or blush is all over the place and I’m here for it! Pink is my favorite color and all of the latest shades are perfect for a girl who loves pink but doesn’t want to look like bubble gum.
Pulling off one color can be trickier than it seems I’m sharing my tips on how to nail a monochromatic look.
Patience is a Virtue
The first step in creating a head to toe or monochromatic look is patience. I’ve had this Boohoo trench for at least a year and could not find the right piece to go along with it. Eventually, I found this Forever 21 body con dress so I crossed my fingers and ordered it. If you find a blush piece or any color for that matter hold on to it and just wait for the right piece to find you because you want your monochromatic look to be cohesive.
Take it to the Floor
The most luxe aspect of a monochromatic look is the fact that you wearing the color from head to toe. Your shoes can also help you cheat the rules of this matchy-matchy color pallet. My trench and my shoes are the same color which actually gives a little grace to the fact that my dress is a shade darker. PS… these lucite aka clear heels are all the rage for summer and I for one am here for it!!
The Rule of 3
Always remember the rule of three when wearing head to toe color. Notice how I style my look with a light trench, a dress, and shoes all in the same color family. You can wear a dress, shoes, and a clutch. You can also keep your lipstick in the same color family as your dress and shoes. Monochromatic looks work really well for a petite frame because of the head to toe color can make you appear taller. I enjoy monochromatic looks because I am short waisted so the color creates the illusion that I’m longer through my midsection. I plan on styling more looks with just one color.
