Glamping (glamours camping) is happening all over California and music festivals. I have wanted to join in on the fun but it seemed like a lot of work. If you have ever been camping before then you know it’s enough to bring actual camping equipment, so packing a decorative side table seems daunting. Your next girlfriend’s glamping trip just got 100 times easier. I teamed up with Route Fifty Vintage Camper Rentals to bring you my latest #daycation blog post, The Beginner’s Guide to Glamping.

Relaxing in Style

If you’ve never set up an RV before no worries Route Fifty offers a delivery/set-up/retrieval service (within certain zones). More experienced glamper? You can pick up an RV and tow it with you to your location. When they say set up they really mean it! When I walked into the RV it was like I stepped off the campgrounds and into a quaint bed and breakfast. All of the attention to detail is incredible from the delightful decor to the amenities such as linens, cutlery, cookware, and even games. It feels more like you’re staying with a friend and less like a rental.

Honestly, Route Fifty is so convenient that I would consider using their service for more than just glamping. The smaller campers are an awesome option for the bridal dressing room for an outdoor wedding.  Since I mentioned weddings, this would be the perfect honeymoon suite for a couple who loves the outdoors. Not enough room for out of town guests? How cute would it be for them to stay in one of these adorable RVs?

If you have never been camping but are considering glamping there are definitely things you want to keep in mind that will make your experience more enjoyable!

Choosing a Location

Camping is offered at most state and local parks and I would definitely recommend staying at a location that accommodates campers. Most of the Ohio and Hamilton County park camping areas have designated bath halls. You will be able to shower and use a traditional toilet because being clean is step one of the experience being glamours.

Proximity to the Bathroom is Everything!

The best part about making your camping reservations online is most site will mark where the restroom is located. You will want to pick a site as close to the bathroom as possible. In the darkness of night, you want to know you can easily find the restroom. You’ll thank me later. If you chose a camping location that doesn’t have online reservations I would make this request with the representative helping set up your reservation.

 

Woman, Fire, Food

It’s amazing how easy some fires set ablaze in almost the blink of an eye but when you set out to create a fire for the purpose of cooking dinner, setting a fire is much harder. I brought two bundles of firewood with me which was enough for one evening fire. My trip was only an overnight stay so a good rule of thumb would be two bundles per night.

I purchased a starter log for my campfire and I would definitely recommend that and charcoal for a longer burning fire. For charcolI would go with a match light formula and bring along some lighter fluid and paper. Let’s break this down in the easiest term if the packaging says quick fire buy it. I got my fire going but it was after a few tries and prayer.

Glamping Menu

In the evening you can pretty much expect to eat all of your meals fireside. You will want everything to portable and easy to prepare. I prepped all of my food so that all I would have to is wrap it in foil and sit it on the grill. When you are planning your meals just remember foil is your friend.

Pickle Jar Taboule Salad

For the tabouleh

1 box of pine nut couscous

3 tablespoons fresh parsley ( you can use dried just reduce the amount)

3  tablespoons fresh chives

1/2 cup feta cheese

1 English cucumber diced

1/4 cup of avocado oil

Salt and Pepper to taste

1 bag of spring mix salad

Juice of a lemon

Cook the couscous according to the package directions and set aside. Wash, dry, and chop the cucumber and fresh herbs. Mix all of the ingredients together and refrigerate until chill.  In the pickle jar layer, the spring mix salad on the bottom and spoon in the tabouleh. Squeeze the juice of a lemon on top of the salad layers and seal the pickle jars.

Rice Crispy S’more Stack

I made my own homemade rice crispy treats but you could totally use store bought cereal snacks for this gooey s’more snack. Just layer a rice crispy treat, a chocolate bar square, and a graham cracker square and wrap it in aluminum foil. Just sit it on the fire or the grill for about a minute until the choclate melts.

Campfire Brie

Don’t you just love it when the prepared food section saves the day? I think this is awesome campfire snack. I just put the brie topping on the cheese and wrapped it in foil and sat the foil pack on the grill. Just bring a sleeve of saltine crackers and you’ve got a great appetizer.
