DIY| Upcycle Old Jeans Into A Fall Wreath

DSCN1024

The best design lesson I ever learned about fall decor was in church.  You can’t celebrate Halloween at church but you can have a Fall Festival. I love Halloween but I get more design for my money decorating for the fall season. I’m sure there is a disappointed children’s church leader out there thinking this is not the take away wisdom from Fall Festival.”

The thought of taking down my decorations after October just makes me sad. My fall wreath can be displayed until it’s time to decorate for Christmas. How is that for a life hack!

For this project you will need:

Old jeans or denim remnants

Foam wreath form

Fabric shears

Decorative faux leaves

Optional- floral wire, choice of decoration for the center

Step 1:

Lay the pants flat and cut the leg from seat. (As if you were making a pair of cut off shorts)

Step 2:

Cut one inch strips from the bottom of the pants. Cut the seam from the strip. Continue cutting strips until you have enough strips to cover the entire wreath form.

Step 3:

Tie the strips around the wreath form. Be sure to double knot the strips. (May I suggest binge watching Netflix cause this may take a while)

Step 4:

Trim the denim ties to ensure the bows are even.

Step 5:

Remove the faux leaves from the steams. Open a denim tie and secure the leaf by retying the knot.

Optional Step 6:

I found a wood pumpkin at the craft store. I painted and distressed the wood to give it a rustic look. I attached the pumpkin to the wreath with floral wire. You can use any decorative piece this would also look great with a laser cut wood initial. The wreath itself is basic you can customize it your suit your taste.
