“The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mole, but true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It is the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she knows.”- Audrey Hepburn
I grew up with women who made adulthood look like a prestigious honor. Every time I hit a milestone birthday I keep waiting for my grand invitation into the club.
I’m actually blessed to have a circle of friends who get better with age. We love the wisdom that comes with getting older. We embrace the changes that come our way and keep it sexy.
Society is selling women a lie when they promote the golden age of being a woman. Most women know your twenties suck. I am finally over thirty and I love it. Getting older is a freaking badge of honor and I plan to wear mine proudly!
My 5 tips on aging gracefully
True Authentic Self
If you don’t know who you are developing into then you won’t appreciate the fact that you’re improving. The biggest lie we tell ourselves is that we haven’t done enough.
The reality is on some level everyone has an achievement. Acknowledge it and get more for yourself. Develop you into the real true you, so when you achieve more the age will just be a number.
Share responsibly
Be stingy with yourself. Be aware of how much you choose to emotionally give to others. We hastily give up portions of ourselves only to realize we have made a mistake.
Attaching yourself to the wrong relationship will drain you and make you feel limited. Feeling limited will make you feel old. (feeling old will make you look old) In the great words of Samantha Jones, “I love you, but I love me more.”
No, is a complete sentence
I had an aha moment when I was watching The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. When Matt Lauer said, “I’m always amazed at what women will do because they’re afraid of being rude.”
Don’t be scared to say what you mean and mean what you say. Doing things you don’t want to do will make you feel stressed and stress causes wrinkles. So if you can’t afford Botox save yourself some money and say no.
Fail, fail, and fail again
Make every attempt to be and do what you want to do. Stop feeling like your time has past and just try. Get in there and do it and if it doesn’t work out laugh about it.
Live Right
My beautiful Aunt Lee turned 100 this year. People asked her for advice on how to live to be 100 years old. She simply said “Live right!”. Take care of yourself mind, body, and soul.
Work on becoming a classic work of art. Somethings never go out of style. You never saw Sophia Loren competing with Madonna and there was a reason for that, she didn’t have to! Despite what the mainstream media promotes you’re never going out of style you’re an exclusive one of a kind jewel.
Love deeply, eat whatever you want, go anywhere you can afford.. and leave your mark every where you go. Age ain’t nothing but a number…
